Sorry Tom, but I don't buy this one for a single minute.
If Conservatives really held "people they like" to the same standard, then they also would have demanded a resignation from David Vitter.
So why didn't they? Simple. Look at the governor's from their respective states. Craig is from Idaho where they have a Republican governor who would appoint a Republican replacement. Vitter is from Louisiana, which has a Democratic governor.
If Craig was from, let's say Wisconsin or Montana, then there would have been much less hue and cry from the Republicans.

...which makes letting Ted Kennedy off the hook even more inexplicable, since Massachusetts had a Republican governor at the time of the Chappaquiddick incident.
