Film Expectations

There's a whole genre of movies that goes in both columns. For example, "Roadhouse" with Patrick Swayze really was bad, and yet it really was good. I watched it last week, in fact. Good heavens it's a terrible movie. Half the cast should have been hauled out into the parking lot and shot after the premier, and the writers should be held in cages for passers-by to pelt with rotting garbage. But it's incredibly entertaining. I watch it whenever I come across it on cable. It's one of the most entertaining movies ever. It displays new depths of hubris and stupidity every time I see it, and as it ages and we get farther from its period more and more cultural conceits reveal themselves.
Just talking about gets me excited. I'm going to move it up on my NetFlix list right now.
