But then you'd have to give the gals HGTV, TLC, Bravo, etc

You forgot the "Versus" channel or VS or however it's spelled. You can get your fill of hunting, fishing, and all the MMA you can handle. I only watch them in July when they have the Tour de France.

I always thought Methane would be a good name for a men's network...

@John Holton
hahahaha

Tom, I think the guys win, actually. With the Travel Channel carrying the World Poker Tour, it's still a man's world.

Even Bravo is a men's channel - just not straight men.

Uh, sorry to burst your bubble, but the idea that sports are purely a male prerogative is remarkably sexist. Men are certainly more jerks about it, but there are a lot of women who love sports.

"I realize that today you have a number of top female athletes such as Martina Navratilova who can run like deer and bench-press Chevrolet trucks. But to be brutally frank, women as a group have a long way to go before they reach the level of intensity and dedication to sports that enables men to be such incredible jerks about it."
- Dave Barry, "Sports is a Drag"

Those are not "men's" channels. (OK, "Speed" probably qualifies).

Their main audience tends towards men, but not like a network like Spike or Lifetime panders to men or women, respectively.

The real test is to look at the adverts. Who are THEY aimed at? If the ads (or other network shows) are mostly half-nekkid babes pushing products (like beer), along with "Tenactin" ads, then it's a men's channel.

If there are a preponderance of diet plans, feminine hygene products, or "potpourri" ads, then it's a women's channel. (Note: If there is a tendency towards shows which demonize men while beatifying women, it's a libtard feminist channel).
