Too bad that Republicans also think its ok for the gov't to wiretap telephone, email, and other electronic communications of American citizens too without a warrant.

If they believed that, you might have a point.
a) The whole thing started under Clinton (do a search on Project Echelon)... Or read the NYTimes article referenced here:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2006/01/under_clinton_ny_times_called.html
Apparently, Dems think the same thing? Not very damning.
b) Bush's "exposed" actions (i.e., all anyone has published about) have been limited to *INTERNATIONAL* calls (which, if you imagine that *other* countries aren't listening to, you're naive as hell), and generally those which involve a known or suspected terrorist at one end or the other.
I wasn't real happy about Echelon when I first heard of it. I'm still not a big fan.
But the fact of the matter is, under Clinton, we did not have 911 to justify it. Prior to 911, the apparent threat to the US and its citizens by international terrorism was limited in the visible incidences of it.
That's a substantial change. And thus you will find me not talking real loud about my objections.
At the very least, it is amazingly two-faced to be whining about the GOP doing something (like "extraordinary rendition", for example) which was **initiated** under the Clinton admin.

Was the hacker a dem? How do you know?
I thought that the point was that the Gov is using a yahoo account for official business. Is that cool? Not sure it is.
My guess is that it is harder to wire tap AQ than it is to bust SP's security.

And why lying media outlet told you it was used for "official business"?
It's a private e-mail account.

One hopes you know the answer by now. If not, google "senator" "Tennessee" "son" and "Palin".
