Back in the transition between '05 & '06 I was in Manila. Let me tell you, in the Philippines they make up for our lack of New Year's fireworks! In the distance it was a roar that was creeping towards us as Midnight approached. The roar pretty much swallowed us up at around midnight.
A friend of mine says in her Filipino hometown, if no one is killed from a New Year's fireworks mishap the celebration is deemed to be a disappointment.
