They Live For These Moments

If you actually read about it, you'll find that poor, poor Henry Gates was far, far more rudely provocative than any white person would be and think they can get away with. "I'll see your mama outside!" -- right. I would absolutely guarantee you you can search the police blotters of ANY area and find that a property owner, regardless of color or creed, who behaved as he did ANYWHERE, had a huge chance of getting his rude, dumbf**k ass arrested as a result. A woman might be able to get away with it but even there...

Gates deserved not only to get arrested, but he should have spent several hours in the drunk tank, and been Baker Acted (or its Mass. equivalent) just for the fun of it.

The man is an obvious asshole, and a poster child for the kind of BS black people think they should have carte blanche for nowadays: "special privileges for black people".

The officer showed amazing patience, and I hope he is NOT forced to apologize to this utter prick as a result of bogus, pumped-up "moral outrage".

What OBH said.

Gates may have even set up this whole thing. If you read the police arrest report (available at http://www.amnation.com/vfr/Police%20report%20on%20Gates%20arrest.PDF), you see that the woman who called the police reported seeing TWO black men with backpacks trying to force their way into Gates' house.

When Officer Crowley went to investigate, he never found two black men with backpacks; all he found was a loudly abusive Gates.

Why is it a set-up? Because Gates has been spouting off about white "oppression" for his entire professional career, but not once has he personally been "oppressed" by mean ol' Whitey. By setting up an incident, he is able to increase his "authenticity" amongst blacks. Now he has been "harassed", even arrested, for the crime of being black in America.

Read the police arrest report. Any white man who behaved the same way to a black police officer would have gotten himself arrested ages before Gates did.

As it turns out, the second black man was Gates' driver, so I retract my accusation of it being a set-up.

However, the first thing that spewed out of Gates' mouth when the police officer showed up, after Officer Crowley identified himself and said he was investigating a possible break-in, was that the officer was a racist. And he screamed it at the top of his lungs.

I've seen people cuffed for less. Crowley has the patience of a saint; Gates, the mouth of a sewer.
